Jerry Jeudy clearly mad after Broncos missed out on Aaron Rodgers
Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy shares his feelings after the news that Aaron Rodgers is staying with the Green Bay Packers broke on March 8.
Jerry Jeudy may be far from Irving Fryar and Larry Fitzgerald territory when it comes to catching from a quarterback carousel, but the 22-year-old Broncos wideout knows this: a good quarterback can make or break a receiver’s legacy.
Fitzgerald managed to escape that, being considered one of the NFL’s greatest wide receivers in its 102-year history, but for most wide receivers paired with incompetent quarterbacks, their numbers stagnate and their legacies are tarnished. Aaron Rodgers could have brought the best out of Jeudy, and he was painfully aware of that fact.
Without technically saying anything, Jeudy said it all when he tweeted an emoji face in the midst of an annoyed eye roll.
Jerry Jeudy makes feelings known after Broncos lose out on Aaron Rodgers
All offseason, rumor had it that Rodgers was contemplating a deal with the Broncos if Green Bay wasn’t able to pay up. Somehow, Green Bay has found a cap-friendly deal that will make Rodgers the highest-paid quarterback, Davante Adams the highest-paid wide receiver, and there will still be 51 other players on their roster.
As impressive as that finagling is, so is what Broncos general manager George Paton has managed during his short tenure.
could be contemplating a move back to Denver as a free agent, the Broncos have 11 draft picks in the upcoming draft, and they still have quarterback options in free agency. The Broncos could even manage to draft a quarterback like
outside of the first round, while signing a more experienced passer like
Marcus Mariota or Mitch Trubisky
.
While it’s a sad day for Broncos players and fans, it’s a fantastic day for Chiefs fans, who are reveling in the misery of their AFC West rival.
For anyone feeling schadenfreude from Jeudy and the Broncos’ situation, be advised the Broncos already possess one of the best safeties in the game alongside impressive rookie Patrick Surtain II. Like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, all it could take is the right quarterback to make this team a contender.
