1. TE Zach Ertz (Arizona Cardinals)

Now that the Commanders are adding six-year quarterback Carson Wentz to the team, it might not be a bad idea to add a target he is very familiar with.

Three-time Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz spent the first eight years and six games of his NFL career in the City of Brotherly Love. With the Eagles, he amassed 579 catches for 6,267 yards and 38 touchdowns. Add 33 receptions for 360 yards and two scores in seven postseason games with Philadelphia. His 11-yard TD grab with 2:21 to play was the go-ahead score in the Eagles’ 41-33 victory over the Patriots in Super Bowl LII.

This past year, Ertz was dealt to the Arizona Cardinals during the season. He wound up playing only 11 regular-season games for the Kliff Kingsbury’s club but finished second on the team with 56 receptions. That was good for 574 yards and three TDs. He had three grabs for 21 yards in Arizona’s wild card loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion Rams.

The Commanders do have a quality tight end in Logan Thomas, who enjoyed a breakout year in 2020. But he was limited to only six games this past season. He and Ertz could make life difficult for opposing defensive units.
