The Toronto Blue Jays are eyeing a trade for Jose Ramirez and it’d be a major addition for the club it things get done.

With MLB Opening Day coming on April 7, there’s still plenty of movement expected for some big names. Could that be the case for Cleveland Guardians slugger Jose Ramirez? The power hitter could get traded and multiple teams are showing interest.

This includes the Toronto Blue Jays, who enter the 2022 season with monster expectations. According to Sportsnet’s Ben Wagner, the Blue Jays are making Ramirez their top target ahead of the regular season arriving.

Toronto acquiring Jose Ramirez would be a blow for the Red Sox and Yankees

Ramirez has been a force at the plate for the Guardians over the years. The three-time All-Star had another impressive season in 2021, posting 36 homers and 103 RBI. Those stats helped him finish sixth in the AL MVP race.

Imagine if Ramirez’s big bat would make its way to the middle of the Toronto lineup? It’d be a nightmare of the AL East opposition to try and deal with. As things stand, the Blue Jays enter the new season with high hopes of winning the division. With so much young talent on the team, of course including Vlad Guerrero Jr., people are fired up to see what this team can get done.

Adding Ramirez would only skyrocket the team’s chances of winning the AL East. Not only that, you could probably include Toronto in the pennant conversation as well.

Now that the lockout is in the rearview mirror, people could see a big trade happen soon. Toronto would make a huge splash by landing Ramirez from Cleveland. If you like Tampa Bay, Boston or New York, you’re surely hoping Toronto doesn’t land Ramirez in the coming weeks.
