Red Sox reveal Chris Sale will miss start of season with yet another injury

The Boston Red Sox are dealing with some pretty awful news right now as Chris Sale will miss the beginning of the 2022 season due to an injury.

Injuries are awful, just absolutely awful. They are objectively one of the worst things about sports in general. Unfortunately for the Boston Red Sox, Chris Sale has had to deal with that a lot recently in his career. And now, he is dealing with yet another unfortunate injury that has derailed his ability to start the 2022 season on time.

Sale has a stress fracture on a rib that will keep him off the mound and will cause him to miss Opening Day.

Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t seem like Sale is all that thrilled about being hurt and how his injury adversely impacts his team. His teammates will need to find a way to pick up the slack caused by him being out, which is just part of the job, but it’s still not the position that Sale wants his team to be in.

As he described in a press conference, the whole injury issue seems to be a bizarre situation that was caused by a “freak incident.” According to Sale, it’s not totally clear when he will be able to return for the Red Sox.

Sale mentioned he believes the injury happened about four weeks ago and then he mentioned that he believes bones typically take six to eight weeks to heal. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean Sale will be active and ready to go in just a few weeks.

We’ll just wait and see how Sale heals. For his sake, and for the Red Sox’ sake, hopefully he’ll be back sooner rather than later.
