Derek Carr welcomes Davante Adams ‘home’ after Raiders trade

After the Las Vegas Raiders pulled off the blockbuster trade, quarterback Derek Carr welcomed wide receiver Davante Adams ‘home.’
Just when you thought the AFC West was not stacked enough, the Las Vegas Raiders decided to pull off another blockbuster transaction. On Thursday night, the Raiders traded their 2022 first- and second-round picks to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for star wide receiver Davante Adams. Not only that, but they signed Adams to a huge five-year, $141.25 million contract.
There is perhaps no one happier in the Las Vegas area than quarterback Derek Carr, who welcomed his former Fresno State teammate “home.”

The two played together for the Bulldogs for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. In 2012, Carr threw for 4,104 yards, 37 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while Adams caught 102 passes for 1,312 yards and 14 touchdowns. The following year, Carr recorded 5,083 passing yards, 50 passing touchdowns and eight interceptions, with Adams recording 131 receptions for 1,719 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Carr and Adams entered the 2014 NFL Draft and were both selected in the second round by the Raiders and Packers respectively.
The Raiders watched as the AFC West got tougher, with the Denver Broncos trading for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and the Los Angeles Chargers acquiring linebacker Khalil Mack from the Chicago Bears and signing stud New England Patriots cornerback J.C. Jackson. Of course, the Kansas City Chiefs are still a force to be reckoned with quarterback Patrick Mahomes starting under center.
Las Vegas responded on Wednesday, as they traded for Indianapolis Colts cornerback Rock Ya-Sin and signed former Arizona Cardinals edge rusher Chandler Jones. One day later, they pulled off the blockbuster to bring in Adams to bolster the offense under Carr and new head coach Josh McDaniels.
In the past, Carr has mentioned that he wanted to play on the same NFL team as Adams. Now, that has become a reality.
