Davante Adams turned down same contract from Packers to play with Raiders
By Ethan Lee
According to a report, Davante Adams received a pretty impressive contract offer from the Green Bay Packers and sought out an opportunity to play elsewhere.
For one reason or another, it sure seems like Davante Adams may have wanted to leave Wisconsin.
Or, well, maybe Adams just needed to leave his current team. Regardless of what his exact motivation was for making his decision, Adams apparently made the decision to leave the Green Bay Packers despite a pretty solid offer that was handed his way.
According to a tweet from ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, the Packers were willing to pay Adams a rather large sum of money. Demovsky reported that Green Bay was interested in paying Adams “equally to what the Raiders are with this new deal.”
While that offer was great and all, as Demovsky notes, Adams apparently preferred the idea of playing somewhere else.
Las Vegas Raiders: Davante Adams reportedly turned down contract offer from Green Bay Packers in favor of playing elsewhere
That’s a pretty significant thing to be reporting here. While some may have assumed that Green Bay wasn’t willing to match what the Las Vegas Raiders are offering Adams, it seems like that isn’t the case here.
It’s totally possible that Adams just wanted a change of scenery and was tired of Wisconsin’s frigid winters. Or maybe he assumed that another NFL franchise might have a roster that is more equipped to win a Super Bowl in the relatively near future.
It’s hard to tell exactly why Adams wanted to play for another team, but he wanted to play for another team, according to Demovsky’s report.
