The Saint Peter’s Peacocks delivered the biggest upset of March Madness on Day 1 by knocking off No. 2 Kentucky and their fans absolutely loved it.

There’s no question the Saint Peter’s Peacocks picked up some new fans on their bandwagon after pulling off a stunning upset over No. 2 Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament on Thursday.

The ones who were there from the start got to have the best moment of all while watching the game together in New Jersey.

You could say they were hyped about the result.

The Peacocks only have 2,600 undergraduates, so that group there probably represents a nice chunk of the student body. They got everything they could have hoped for and more as Saint Peter’s went toe-to-toe with the Wildcats throughout the game. They forced overtime then pulled ahead and held on for the epic victory.

Kentucky was an 18-point favorite over the No. 15 seed. That didn’t matter to Daryl Banks III, who scored 27 points, or sharpshooter Doug Edert, who dropped 20 off the bench. Their performances outweigh Wildcats star Oscar Tschiebwe, who finished with 30 points and 16 rebounds.

March Madness is all about upsets and Cinderella stories. Saint Peter’s just got their first NCAA Tournament victory in four tries. On Saturday they’ll have another chance to thrill in the Round of 32.
