Their reward? A First Round matchup with No. 2 seed Kentucky.
Saint Peter’s doesn’t have a long tournament history, so many fans may not be aware of the program or where they’re from. It’s time to change that.
Where is Saint Peter’s University located?
Saint Peter’s University is a private Jesuit university in Jersey City, New Jersey. Campus is just two miles from the Statue of Liberty.
Founded in 1872, the school has remained continuously open since 1930. They have an enrollment of just over 3,500 students.
Saint Peter’s basketball NCAA Tournament history
The Peacocks have been to the NCAA Tournament four times including this year’s First Round matchup with Kentucky.
In 2011 they were a No. 14 seed, losing to No. 3 Purdue in the opening round. They made the field in 1995 as a No. 15 seed and lost to No. 2 seed Massachusetts. Their first-ever tournament appearance was in 1991. A 12-seed, they fell to No. 5 Texas.
Saint Peter’s is 0-3 in tournament history with a herculean effort on their hands to improve to 1-3 against the Wildcats.
