D.J. Moore gets massive three-year extension to stay with Panthers

The Carolina Panthers and wide receiver D.J. Moore have agreed to a three-year extension.
D.J. Moore has agreed to a three-year contract extension to stay with the Carolina Panthers.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it will be three-year deal worth $61.884 million. His new average money will be $20.628 million. $41.61 million of the contract extension will be fully guaranteed. He is now on the Panthers’ books for the next four seasons at $73 million.
Moore was a former first-round pick out of Maryland by the Panthers in the 2018 NFL Draft. Despite instability at the quarterback position, he has gone over 1,100 receiving yards in each of the last three seasons.
This is a great signing made by the Panthers, especially after missing out on Deshaun Watson.
Carolina Panthers extend wide receiver D.J. Moore through 2025 NFL season
Moore will be turning 25 years old in April, so he should still be in his athletic prime throughout the entirety of the contract extension. Getting him extended had to have been a top priority for Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer after not landing Watson. By having a top-tier wide receiver under contract, it can allow Carolina to be more aggressive in the quarterback market.
The Panthers did trade for Sam Darnold last offseason. While his first year in Charlotte was underwhelming to say the very least, he was the former No. 3 overall pick out USC in the same draft as Moore. Carolina also has the No. 6 overall pick in this year’s draft. This means the Panthers could be the first team to select their new franchise quarterback in a weak draft class.
There may be a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Panthers, but Moore is sticking in Charlotte.
