Coach K, Duke hit incredible milestone with win over Michigan State
By Scott Rogust
Mike Krzyzewski reached yet another milestone after the Duke Blue Devils defeated the Michigan State Spartans to advance to the Sweet 16.
Duke Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski revealed prior to the start of this season that he would be retiring. The team made the NCAA Tournament as the second-seed in the West Region, and they are still going strong, as they defeated the No. 7 Michigan State Spartans 85-76 to advance to the Sweet 16.
Krzyzewski has already accomplished a ton throughout his lengthy coaching career, but he now has new achievements to add to his resume.
The win over Michigan State is now the 1,200th victory in his career and the 99th NCAA Tournament victory, both of which are most all-time. That, and Krzyzewski clinched a spot in the Sweet 16 for the 26th time, the most all-time in men’s basketball for one head coach.

These accomplishments were bound to fall at Krzyzewski’s feet considering he has been coaching for 47 years and built a winner at Duke throughout his 42 years.
In the victory, Duke made the most of their shots, as they carried a field-goal percentage of 57.1. The leading scorer for the Blue Devils was freshman Paolo Banchero, who recorded 19 points while making 8 of his 14 shot attempts.
Krzyzewski will look to pick up his 100th NCAA Tournament win with a victory over the winner of No. 3 Texas Tech vs. No. 11 Notre Dame. Duke fans will certainly hope that Duke’s run will continue until they are the last team standing, holding the National Championship. Only time will tell since the West Region runs through Gonzaga.
