Seahawks signings: RB depth chart after bringing back Rashaad Penny
Some big news has arrived for Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks, with the team bringing back Rashaad Penny on a one-year deal.
Pete Carroll said he wants the Seattle Seahawks to focus on the ground game moving forward now that Russell Wilson is out of town. The latest move from John Schneider is going to help out in that department, as the Seahawks have brought back Rashaad Penny.
According to Ian Rapoport, it’s a one-year deal for Penny. The former first-round pick closed out the season with a bang for Seattle and now he’ll look to keep things rocking in 2022.
Rashaad Penny contract
Per Rapoport, Penny’s new deal with Seattle will be worth $5.75 million. However, Penny can earn up to $6.5 million if he hits certain incentives. This is welcoming news for Seattle fans, as they were hoping things could be finalized between the two sides.
Rashaad Penny stats
Penny posted 749 rushing yards and six touchdowns last season. He was an absolute force late in the campaign, recording at least 135 yards in four of his last five games. This included the 190-yard, one touchdown showing against the Cardinals to close out the year.

Now, Seattle will be ready to feature quite the tag team at running back between Chris Carson and Penny. Carson will be the feature back, but Penny is going to be heavily involved in the game plan for next season.
The big question with Carson is if he’ll be able to stay healthy for the year. Carson suffered a serious neck injury in 2021 and was only able to play in four games. He’s been working tirelessly to get himself ready for next season. Him and Penny running the show could be quite problematic for opposing defenses.
