3. March Madness teams most likely to win the national title – Kansas Jayhawks

There may not be a team in the NCAA Tournament that has a more favorable path to the Final Four than Kansas. Upsets have decimated the top seeds in the Midwest Region as 2-seed Auburn, 3-seed Wisconsin and 5-seed Iowa all got knocked out ahead of the Sweet 16.

The only top seed left in Kansas’ regional draw is Providence, which has been one of the luckiest teams this season and is significantly inferior to the Jayhawks talent-wise. The Friars have gotten run off the floor by more talented teams recently, as evidenced by a sweep at the hands of Villanova near the end of the regular season, so Kansas should have little trouble dispatching them from the tournament.

The regional final would bring either 10-seed Miami or 11-seed Iowa State, neither of whom should give the Jayhawks much of a challenge. Bill Self’s team essentially has a fast pass to the Final Four, which would give them an excellent chance to cut down the nets in a few weeks.

The one concern with Kansas is that Self employs essentially a six-man rotation but the players in it all work well together to create a magical unit when everything is working correctly. Don’t be shocked if the Rock Chalk chant is starting in New Orleans in the waning moments of the national title game.
