The Indianapolis Colts have their quarterback in former Atlanta Falcons signal-caller Matt Ryan. Hopefully, he’ll be better than Carson Wentz was.
Ryan has a roster bonus due at 4 p.m. ET on Monday, so a trade was always bound to be finalized by then, or else the Falcons would move on with the franchise quarterback still on their roster.
Nonetheless, it’s tough to come back from being an afterthought due to Deshaun Watson trade talks. The Falcons undeniably wanted to bring in the hometown product to replace Ryan, only to lose out at the last minute to the Cleveland Browns.
As a result, the Falcons are left as many thought the Browns would be — with an angry quarterback who is considering his options. There may not be a safe road back for Ryan and the Falcons. Thus, a trade is wise.
Falcons: Matt Ryan traded to Colts
Ryan gives Indianapolis a reliable veteran under center who isn’t a risk to throw the ball to the other team on any given play.
I’m looking at you, Carson Wentz.
While Wentz and Philip Rivers were fine at times, neither allowed the Colts to truly unlock their offense to its greatest potential. Indianapolis has all the pieces in place to go on a Super Bowl run — they just lack the quarterback.
Ryan will be penciled in as the Week1 starter. For the Colts’ sake, let’s hope this one works out.

Just like that, no more Freddie Freeman and Matt Ryan in Atlanta. Braves are just fine. Falcons … it’ll be a while.

At the very least, the Colts won Twitter for a day.
Falcons depth chart
Surely, the Falcons will make a move at quarterback. As things currently stand, Atlanta’s starting quarterback is…Feleipe Franks.
