Jorge Soler thanks Braves fans for support after signing with rival

After signing with the Miami Marlins, outfielder Jorge Soler thanked the Atlanta Braves fanbase for the support.

The Atlanta Braves have had quite the offseason after winning the World Series last year. They added players like Matt Olson and Kenley Jansen, but they did lose some to free agency. One of them being outfielder and World Series MVP Jorge Soler, who signed a three-year deal with the rival Miami Marlins.

Days after the news dropped, Soler took time to send a message to Braves fans on Twitter, thanking them for their support throughout the last year.

Soler was one of the many outfielders brought to Atlanta around the trade deadline due to Ronald Acuña suffering a season-ending knee injury. The Braves gave a call to the Kansas City Royals to acquire Soler, and they got a deal done after agreeing to send over right-handed pitcher Kasey Kalich.

In 55 regular-season games with the Braves, Soler hit .269/.358/.524 while recording 14 home runs, 33 RBI and 56 hits. While his regular-season numbers were certainly great, Soler saved his best for the World Series.

Soler hit the leadoff home run for the Braves in Game 1 of the World Series against the Houston Astros. He hit a pinch-hit, game-winning home run in Game 4. Then, he hit a three-run home run out of Minute Maid Park in Game 6 to help lead Atlanta to a 7-0  win and their first World Series title since 1995.

Due in part to his three home runs in the Fall Classic, Soler was named the World Series MVP.

After the MLB lockout ended, Soler signed a three-year deal worth $36 million with the Marlins.

Even though he spent less than a full season with the Braves, he will be forever remembered for his contributions that helped the team become World Series Champions. You have to imagine Soler will receive a loud ovation when he visits Truist Park in 2022.
