The NBA has many players dominant in scoring, but only a few have been able to reach 50 points in one game. Some players have reached this more than once.

One player reached this achievement a record 118 times, the most in NBA history.

The player with the most 50-point games in NBA history is Wilt Chamberlain. Chamberlain holds the record for scoring at least 50 points per game 118 times. Below him is Michael Jordan with 31 games. Chamberlain set the bar astonishingly high, and his record probably won’t be broken any time soon.

Chamberlain is considered one of the best overall players in NBA history. He set multiple records, many of which included scoring. Chamberlain averaged 50.4 points per game during the 1961-62 season. Having one 50-point game throughout an entire career is a big accomplishment on it’s own, but to have so many 50-point games it turns into a season average is astonishing.

Chamberlain also produced a 100-point game in 1962 which remains the highest number of points scored in a single game. He is one of a few players to score more than 30,000 points throughout his NBA career. Chamberlain was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame in 1979 and remains one of the best players the league has ever seen.
