Tennis star Nick Kyrgios almost hit the ball boy with his racket after losing to Rafael Nadal.

After losing in the quarterfinal at the Indian Wells Masters to Rafael Nadal, Nick Kyrgios decided to smash his racket to the ground nearly missing a ball boy that was close by. Kyrgios was frustrated after losing the match 7-6 (0), 5-7, 6-4.

Shortly after shaking Nadal’s hand, Kyrgios forcibly threw his racket to the ground and the racket bounced toward the ball boy. The boy was able to move out of the way in time and avoid getting hit.

This could have ended badly for the ball boy but thanks to his quick action he was able to avoid a bad ending. When asked by the press about the incident, Kyrgios was visibly upset by the question because he felt it took away from the overall match, as per Fox Sports.

"“What would you like me to say about it? Obviously, was that my intention? No. Because I threw a racquet. Did I throw the racquet anywhere near him originally? It landed a meter from my foot and skidded and nearly hit him. I’m human. Things happen like that. Obviously, it was a very misfortunate bounce. I think if I did that a million times over it wouldn’t have gone that way. And what do you want me to say? It was three meters away from the kid. That’s a question you’re going to say after a three-hour battle against Nadal. That’s what you come here with?”"

The journalist then stated, they saw the kid duck and Kyrgios eventually apologized, stating it was an accident, and it was not his intention to hit the ball.

"“He ducked. Duck. He ducked. He ducked. He ducked. Jesus. All right. It was an accident. It was most definitely not like Zverev. I didn’t hit him, thankfully. It wasn’t my intention. So thankfully the ball kid’s okay. Great question, though. Unbelievable stuff. Congratulations, man”"

All is forgiven in love and tennis for Nick Kyrgios

Kyrgios reached out to the ball boy and apologized, even offering to give him a racket.

Hopefully, Kyrgios learns from this and does not go smashing any more rackets to the ground, well at least when no one is in close distance.
