When is the last time Duke won March Madness?
How long ago was the last time the Duke Blue Devils took the crown in March Madness and win the college basketball national championship?
The Duke Blue Devils are undoubtedly one of the ultimate blue bloods in college basketball.
Mike Krzyzewski has spent the last 42 years making that so.
Coach K is now on the verge of retiring, but first, the goal is to stay alive in the NCAA Tournament then win a national title.
The Blue Devils know how to get that done, but how long has it been since their last championship?
When is the last time Duke won March Madness?
Duke won the 2015 March Madness tournament, besting Wisconsin in the title game.
As the No. 1 seed in the South Region, the Blue Devils blew through No. 16 Robert Morris, No. 8 San Diego State, No. 5 Utah and No. 2 Gonzaga to get to the Final Four. An emphatic victory over Michigan State set them up to face the Badgers.
The title game was a back-and-forth battle starting freshman point guard Tyus Jones, who led all players with 23 points. He scored 19 of those in the second half while willing the Blue Devils to victory. His three-pointer with four minutes to go put Duke on top for good while his late free throws ensured the result.
Since then, Duke has gone to two Elite Eights, a Sweet Sixteen and had one Second Round exit. Going into the 2022 tournament, they hadn’t played in March Madness since 2019. The 2020 tournament was canceled because of COVID-19 while they missed out entirely in 2021.
