2. Boston has two All-NBA caliber wings

The toughest thing for aspiring NBA title contenders to find in the modern NBA is two-way wings. The Celtics are fortunate enough to have two All-NBA caliber players to deploy on the wing every night.

It’s an even bigger plus that the pair possess complementary skillsets. Tatum is the big iso scorer with the ability to put up 30 points every night no matter what the opposing defense throws at him. Brown isn’t quite as offensively flammable but his defense can stymy elite wings on the other end of the floor.

The two don’t fit perfectly together on the offensive end and sometimes seem to be taking turns to make sure they both get their shots up. That might be more a product of the lack of a true point guard in Boston than any deficiency residing in their two superstars.

The bottom line for the Celtics is that they have two elite wings to count on when the game bogs down late in the fourth quarter. Most of their opponents would love to have one wing of either Tatum or Brown’s caliber. It’s a big advantage for Boston over the course of an entire playoff series.
