UNC fans are irate Grant Hill is so biased for Duke on Final Four broadcast
UNC basketball fans couldn’t stand listening to Duke alum Grant Hill on the Final Four broadcast between the Tar Heels and Blue Devils.
An accusation of bias is one of the tricky things about featuring former college basketball stars on March Madness broadcasts.
For UNC basketball fans, that accusation was flying left and right over Grant Hill calling the Final Four game between the Tar Heels and rival Duke Blue Devils.
After all, Hill is one of Duke’s most famous basketball alumni. His No. 33 jersey is retired by the school.

Fans had plenty to say about Hill’s commentary during the broadcast, even if a lot of them vowed to mute him from the start.

Hill was on two national championship teams for Duke in 1991 and 1992. In 1994, he was an All-American and ACC Player of the Year. He was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014.
While his affinity for the Blue Devils can’t be questioned, he’s also had a plenty of time to learn how to broadcast without bias. He played in the NBA from 1994 to 2013. Almost immediately he started his broadcasting career. He has been covering March Madness games for CBS since 2015.
Would it have been better if CBS had a UNC alum present to match Hill? Maybe. Tar Heel fans will mind Hill a lot less if their team manages to make it through the matchup with a victory.
