Astros’ Carlos Correa replacement is going to open some eyes
By Scott Rogust
The Houston Astros have to feel pretty good about Jeremy Peña, who is set to replace Carlos Correa at shortstop.
For the first time since his arrival, the Houston Astros will not have Carlos Correa starting at shortstop. This offseason, Correa hit free agency, ultimately signing a three-year, $105.3 million contract with the Minnesota Twins. With that, the Astros had to find a replacement.
Well, they have one in the form of top prospect Jeremy Peña, who is absolutely raking in Spring Training for the Astros.

While facing the Washington Nationals on Sunday, Peña hit two home runs and knocked in four runs in the team’s 9-6 loss.
Peña did have an impressive game, but he has been solid at the plate throughout Spring Training. He is batting .412, while hitting two home runs and recording 8 RBI in seven games. Oh, and he has a ridiculous OPS of 1.268.
The shortstop played college baseball at Maine, where he was selected by the Astros in the third round of the 2018 MLB Draft. Last season, Peña played 37 games in the minors, where he hit .297/.363/.579 while recording 10 home runs, 21 RBI, 25 runs scored and 43 hits.
Entering this season, Peña was ranked as Houston’s No. 1 prospect in the entire pipeline. Now, he in line to play the position Correa had manned for seven years. Based on his numbers, Astros fans have to feel pretty excited when he makes his major league debut.
