Hurler Ethan Roberts was overcome with emotion when he found out that he made the Chicago Cubs Opening Day roster.
There’s nothing quite like finding out you’re headed to the main show. For right-handed pitcher Ethan Roberts, he’s been dreaming of playing in early April for the Chicago Cubs. Luckily, the wait is over for him.
On Monday, right in the middle of a Spring Training game, skipper David Ross went up to Roberts and told him that he had officially made the Opening Day roster. As you can probably imagine, that update had Roberts going wild on the inside.

Ethan Roberts couldn’t be happier he made the Opening Day roster
This is just so awesome to see. Roberts had been hoping to hear that from Ross for a while and the fact that he was able to see his dreams come true means the world to him. The Cubs are going to look like a completely different squad this season, and now Roberts will be part of getting Chicago back on track.
At just 24 years old, the best is yet to come for Roberts, who’s looked at as a rising reliever for the Cubbies. He’s not the only youngster who will be ready to make his Opening Day debut, as other big names are on the list.
For the Seattle Mariners, Julio Rodriguez was informed of his news on Monday as well and the outfielder couldn’t be happier to make a name for himself in the Pacific Northwest. While Roberts may not be as hyped up as J-Rod, the pitcher will be fired up to impress at Wrigley Field throughout the season as well.
Chicago may be in a rebuild, but fans are excited about the future for the squad. Roberts figures to play a big role in things.
