Soccer fans will have the opportunity to purchase the ‘Hand of God’ Diego Maradona Jersey from the controversial win over England in the 1986 World Cup.

No one will ever forget the 1986 World Cup matchup between Argentina and England. In dramatic fashion, Argentina came out with a 2-1 win thanks to Diego Maradona, but one of his goals will never be forgotten.

Remember the goal he clearly scored with his hand instead of his head like the refs thought? There was no VAR back in the 80s to rule that one out. Argentina won that match and ended up winning the World Cup Final as well. Now, if you’ve got $5 million around, you can buy that Maradona jersey from the win over England.

England fans still aren’t over the loss to Argentina in 1986

Sotheby’s will be hosting an online auction on April 20 and there’s going to be interest in this jersey from all over the world. Maradona will go down in history and one of the best players ever. Unfortunately, due to health complications, Maradona passed away at 60 years old in 2020 in his native country.

Following his death, people all over Argentina have been heartbroken, while doing everything to make sure his legacy remains intact. In addition to being a star for the Argentinian national team, Maradona made a name for himself for multiple club teams in Europe. This of course includes Napoli and Barcelona.

With Argentina, he helped the team win the one World Cup in ’86. As great as he was, England fans remain furious his ‘Hand of God’ goal was given. It’s safe to say no one in the UK will be bidding on this jersey.

The same can’t be said for other soccer fans. Maradona is an all-time great and that will never change. We’ll have to wait and see how high this auction goes.

Diego Maradona will forever be remembered as the greatest ever. dark. Next
