Willson Contreras has been hit by a pitch 58 times in his career, and they have mostly been from the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Chicago Cubs opened up their 2022 season against the rival Milwaukee Brewers. In the contest, Cubs catcher Willson Contreras stepped into the batter’s box in the bottom of the seventh inning, and was hit by a pitch from Jake Cousins. Contreras was clearly not pleased, as he had a discussion with the home plate umpire.
For those Cubs fans thinking that Contreras always gets plunked by the Brewers, take a look at this stat from Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network.

Stat shows that Contreras got hit by a pitch by the Brewers the most in his career
MLB Network’s Jon Morosi tweeted out during the game that Contreras was plunked by Milwaukee four times in 2021 and four times in the 2020 truncated season.
Ranking behind the Brewers on the hit by pitch list are the St. Louis Cardinals (7), Cincinnati Reds (6) and Pittsburgh Pirates (6).
When Contreras was plunked, the Cubs capitalized when Ian Happ hit a double to center field, allowing Clint Frazier and the catcher to score, giving Chicago a 5-3 lead. While the Brewers did cut their deficit to one run in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Lorenzo Cain, Chicago held on for the 5-4 win.
Contreras went hitless on the first game of the 2022 season.
Cubs fans are going to be wondering if the hit by pitch count will grow in the remaining three games of this opening-season series.
