White Sox dealt another injury blow, this time to Yoan Moncada
By Rylie Smith
The Chicago White Sox are facing a tough start to their season with another injured player on their roster.
The Chicago White Sox injury count keeps going up with six players out before the season officially starts. Yoan Moncada is the newest addition to the injury list on the White Sox. He is facing an injury to his oblique that luckily seems to have been found early. He has a grade one strain, which is expected to put him out for roughly three weeks.
"“It is mild. We expect him back, let’s say approximated three weeks. Could be quicker. Certainly the kind of thing you do not want to mess around with where it could become a major issue and much longer time down.” -White Sox General Manager Rick Hahn, via Chicago Sun Times"
Moncada allegedly wanted to play through the pain but feels it whenever he laughs or coughs (via Hahn, Chicago Sun Times). If Moncada played through the pain and the injury was caught later, he could’ve faced a much more difficult recovery and a lot more time off.
Yoan Moncada injury update
"“So it’s probably not something to be torqueing and trying to hit a baseball with. But we feel we caught this one early. If it had gone on a couple of days, swinging it could have been far more significant.” -Rick Hahn, via Chicago News Journal"
Moncada seems to be having a tough time with taking time off, but his proposals to return prematurely are turned down by the White Sox.
The White Sox are taking Moncada’s health very seriously, and he will hopefully make a full return without further injury within the next few weeks.
