2022 NFL Mock Draft: 2 quarterbacks land in the top-10
By Brad Weiss
The 2022 NFL Draft is a few weeks away, and here, we look at what the first round could look like when all is said and done.
The 2022 NFL Draft will take place in Sin City this year, as Las Vegas will be the setting for one of the more exciting first rounds in recent memory. There have already been so many moves when it comes to the draft order, and as we inch closer to the start of the draft, changes could be at hand as well.
With the draft order set as of now, we take a look at our latest first-round mock draft.
There has been a ton of movement in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, as teams continue to trade in and out, and up and down. The one constant has been the Jacksonville Jaguars, who once again hold the No. 1 overall pick.
After going offense last year, taking quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who should excel with Doug Pederson as his head coach, the Jags go defense in 2022. Aidan Hutchinson is a guy who many believe is the consensus No. 1 overall pick, and the Jags need a pass rusher in the worst way.
The Detroit Lions could go several different ways with the No. 2 overall pick, as some believe they could pull the trigger on a new signal-caller. Malik Willis has been the darling of the 2022 draft cycle, but instead of going quarterback, Detroit decides to get arguably the best overall player in this draft class.
That player is Kyle Hamilton, a unicorn of a safety from Notre Dame who could be an All-Pro talent in Year 1. Hamilton can go sideline to sideline, has great closing speed, and in Detroit, he would be an absolute star.
The Houston Texans now hold two first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, this after trading away Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns. Last year, Davis Mills stepped in for Watson as a rookie and played well, so I do not believe the team goes quarterback with pick No. 3 overall.
Instead, the Texans go out and get the player who dubbed himself the best in this draft class, adding Cincinnati star cornerback Ahmad Gardner. Sauce is as good as it gets at one of the premium positions on defense in the NFL, so why not take him here.
