The New York Mets and the Washington Nationals got heated Friday evening as benches cleared after Francisco Lindor was hit with a pitch.
Things got a little tense between the New York Mets and the Washington Nationals after Francisco Lindor was hit with a pitch Friday evening. Unfortunately, Lindor got hit in the face and that ignited one heck of a reaction from the Mets (who are understandably pretty tired of their batters getting hit by pitches).

The whole situation is pretty bad because this isn’t exactly the first time a Mets batter has been hit with a pitch. Unfortunately, even though the Mets are just two games into the 2022 season, this isn’t even the first time a Mets batter has been hit in the head with a pitch.
Thursday evening, Pete Alonso was also hit in the head. Thankfully, it seems like Alonso is okay, but the whole situation is far from great.
So, it’s not shocking that the Mets would be incensed after Lindor was hit.
Here’s how folks on Twitter are reacting to the situation.

It would be LOVELY if Nationals pitchers could avoid hitting #Mets batters in the face

Buck Showalter made a lot of fans with the way he immediately responded in defense of his team. Just look at everyone who is in love with Showalter’s response to this whole situation.

Showalter’s fury has made a number of people excited about the Mets. Folks love this sort of response.

Impossible to not love Buck Showalter. Legendary. https://t.co/0Pf4MvFoIW

This whole situation is all sorts of tense and unnecessary and completely avoidable. All the Nationals have to do is stop hitting batters. Just keep batters from being hit. That’s not too much to ask, right?
