Kyle Schwarber hit a home run in his first Phillies at-bat. It also happened to be a leadoff blast for the newly-signed designated hitter.
Bryce Harper was thrilled with the Phillies free agent signings for good reason, as adding Schwarber and Nick Castellanos makes this lineup all the more impressive. Schwarber signed a four-year, $79 million contract this offseason, keeping him in the City of Brotherly Love for quite some time, assuming they don’t deal him elsewhere during that span.
Schwarber has been a fan favorite everywhere he’s played. You should expect to add Philly to that list, as fans are excited about what this team can offer. The Phillies spent big money this offseason, and it’s already paying off.

Phillies fans erupt after Kyle Schwarber home run
Phillies fans were very active on social media, and rightly so, after Schwarber went yard.
That was Kyle Schwarber’s 14th career leadoff home run. He is the first Phillie to hit a leadoff home run on Opening Day since Andrew McCutchen did so, also in his first PA as a Phillie, 3/28/19 vs ATL.

After Schwarber went into the dugout, he came back out to tip his cap to a crowd that was going absolutely berserk. Good first impression, I'd say!
