Manchester City fans destroy Riyad Mahrez for blowing chance to beat Liverpool
By Mark Powell
Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez had not one but two golden opportunities to score a game-winning goal for his squad. Instead, they settled for a draw.
A draw isn’t the worst thing for Manchester City against Liverpool, but considering they were playing at home they would’ve preferred the total point package, really establishing an edge in the title race.
Instead, City maintained their two-point edge — which is still nice, but not all they envisioned. Given their attacking brilliance at times, City lacked the finishing ability in the final third to take advantage more than twice. Mahrez in particular missed a few golden opportunities, including one that sailed over the bar in the waning seconds.
Manchester City fans unhappy with Riyad Mahrez
All players have bad moments on the pitch, so Mahrez isn’t alone. But given the final rush gave him the chance to put an exclamation point on the match, it’s understandable some City fans would be upset.

There were many more.
Mahrez buries that goal against other teams, but perhaps the moment got the best of him. Knowing the game and title race were on his foot adds to the pressure.
For now, City fans can be thankful they maintained their two-point edge.
