Matt Olson’s first home run with the Atlanta Braves has fans forgetting all about that Freddie Freeman guy. Olson is raking early.

Yes, it’s early in the season, but Olson has proven a stable force at first base in the absence of a player the caliber of Freeman. The two players will be compared frequently this season due to the choice of Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos to trade for Olson while Freeman was still on the open market.

For those unfamiliar with the drama, I’ll save you some time and a google search: Freddie Freeman wasn’t thrilled, and Atlanta did not re-sign him.

Whether Olson becomes a better and younger version of Freeman remains to be seen, but that might be an unfair expectation.

Matt Olson home run: Braves fans quick to forget Freddie Freeman

Nothing says “I’m definitely not thinking of you” like telling everyone you’re over someone on social media. While I don’t necessarily believe Braves fans, they insist Olson is helping them move on a little quicker.

There’s more where that came from, and some fans were pettier than others. I tried to keep it PG.
