Scottie Scheffler put forth a pristine effort to win The Masters in dominant form and golf Twitter had no choice but to give the Texan his flowers.

Enduring brutal conditions on Friday at The Masters, Scottie Scheffler emerged from the carnage playing a near-perfect round that put him at 8-under going into the weekend and with a five-stroke advantage on the rest of the field. All he needed to do was not make the big mistake.

36 holes later, he not only avoided any critical errors, but played as well as humanly possible for a player in just his third trip to Augusta National Golf Club trying to hold onto the lead and obtain the Green Jacket. And now he’s making the trip to Butler Cabin as a result — even if he did four-putt to clinch the tournament.

Scottie Scheffler is officially your 2022 Masters champion, giving him his first major championship victory and further affirming that the newly minted No. 1-ranked player in the world has more than earned that spot in the golfing world.

Scottie Scheffler wins The Masters: Golf fans show love

With the victory, golf fans could only sit back, admire and applaud the effort that Scheffler put forth to earn the honor of having last year’s champion, Hideki Matsuyama, putting on the Green Jacket.

Prior to the start of the 2022 calendar year, the book on Scheffler was “can he win on the PGA Tour?” No one questioned the talent or his ability to contend. But he had yet to find himself hoisting a trophy.

Now, he’s won four of his last six starts, including the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play and now the first major of his career with a Masters win. Suffice it to say, he can win on the PGA Tour — and anywhere else in the world. He’s the top-ranked golfer in the world by record but also has backed that up every time he’s been on the course this year.
