The New York Mets cannot catch a break, as Taijuan Walker suffered another injury, further hurting the team’s pitching staff.
Walker threw 30 pitches through two innings, striking out four Phillies batters at the same time. He was dealing, until suddenly leaving the game due to right shoulder irritation. It’s another in a long line of injuries for the New York pitching staff — and around baseball for that matter due to a shortened spring training.
This is the second game Walker has been forced to leave prematurely due to injury, as he exited his final spring training start due to knee soreness. It seems he’s destined for an injured list stint at some point should this continue.
The Mets say Taijuan Walker exited the game with right shoulder irritation.

Mets: Taijuan Walker injury update
It’s unknown exactly how much time Walker will miss, but given how cautious the Mets have been with the right-hander an IL stint could be in his future.
Last season, Walker went 7-11 with an ERA over four.
In the same game, New York lost reliever Trevor May, as well. It’s been a tough night for New York pitching, which gave up a four-run cushion in the eighth inning to the Phillies.
We’ll have more on Walker’s condition when it’s made available.
