Tigers fans go nuts for Javy Baez’s moonshot, first home run in Detroit
By Scott Rogust
When facing the Boston Red Sox on Monday night, Javy Baez hit his first home run with the Detroit Tigers, and fans went nuts.
The Detroit Tigers made moves in the offseason to show that they were no longer rebuilding. Their biggest move came when they signed shortstop Javy Baez to a six-year, $140 million. Not only does he have a walk-off win in his first game with the Tigers, but he now hit his first home run.
While facing the Boston Red Sox on Monday night, Baez sent a high pitch from Ryan Brasier deep into the left field stands of Comerica Park for his first home run in a Tigers uniform. Not only that, but he helped break a 1-1 tie to give Detroit a 3-1 lead.
Tigers fans were ecstatic to see Baez hit his first homer with the team, as evidenced by the tweets below.

That homer in the bottom of the eighth inning turned out to be the game-winning hit. That is now his second after the home opener, where he hit a walk-off single deep into right field to give the Tigers a 5-4 win over the Chicago White Sox.
Tigers fans are hoping that this will be the first of many home runs for Baez in 2022.
