Aaron Judge is able to laugh a little bit after getting booed by spoiled New York Yankees fans.

Getting booed by spoiled New York Yankees fans is nothing new for star outfielder Aaron Judge.

Expectations are always sky high for any professional team playing in the New York media market. While other organizations have devolved into nothing short of unmitigated disasters because of this pressure, the Yankees have long been the gold standard in America’s largest metropolis. Of course, the Yankees have not been to a World Series since Judge was playing ball in high school.

Judge is able to handle with the New York boo birds because he has dealt with them since 2016.

Look. This just comes with the territory of playing ball in New York, or the northeastern corridor for that matter. People are insanely passionate about professional sports. When they pay their hard-earned money to see a product on the court, field or ice that does not meet their standards, they will boo that man! Of course, Judge has been the team’s best player for the better part of a decade.

The other problem with booing the team’s most marketable superstar is he is in the midst of a contract year. Because he played his college ball close to home at Fresno State, Judge has never made massive money before in the big leagues. Now that he has cleared all the stages of arbitration, some organization is going to pay him top-dollar. It may not be with the Yankees…

Ultimately, this is a critical year for this current Yankees core. Not only does the team have to qualify for the postseason, but anything short of an ALCS appearance, or even an increasingly rare World Series berth these days, could ignite a potential rebuild of sorts in The Bronx. If the Yankees cannot compete with the likes of their AL East rivals, it might be time to blow the whole thing up.

Judge responding to the boo birds like it is no big deal signifies what it is like to play in New York.
