Russell Westbrook throws some serious shade at LeBron and Anthony Davis
Russell Westbrook is clearly not happy with how his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers went.
Embarrassing doesn’t even begin to describe how the first year with the Los Angeles Lakers went for Russell Westbrook. The superstar arrived to town hoping to help LA make it back to the NBA Finals.
Instead, the Lakers disappointed in a big way and didn’t even make it to the playoffs. Westbrook is not happy and it’s clear he wishes he could have showed his talents in a bigger way with the team. Did LeBron James and Anthony Davis prevent him from doing that? It looks like it, per his latest quote.
Russell Westbrook calling out LeBron James is not a good look
Westbrook averaged 18.5 points per contest this season, which no one saw coming. It was his lowest average since the 2009-10 season when he scored 16.1 points an outing. That was his second campaign in the league, back when he was with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Westbrook arrived to the Lakers this year after spending one season with Washington. The expectations were high for this team, especially with James and Davis leading the way. The addition of Westbrook figured to have this team in the title hunt.
Instead, there was nothing but drama throughout the year and the standout players simply couldn’t get on the same page. Now, it has head coach Frank Vogel out of town as well. He and Westbrook didn’t have a strong relationship either.
There are going to be some major changes for the Lakers in 2022-23, which are definitely needed. This unit has to bounce back and find a way to play to their abilities. Otherwise, you can expect even more beef between Westbrook and his teammates.
