Anthony Richardson put on an absolutely stunning show at Florida spring game

The Florida Gators held their spring game, and quarterback Anthony Richardson had himself quite the performance.

The Florida Gators have a new head coach in charge in Bill Napier after Dan Mullen was fired following a disappointing 6-7 season. With that, there are going to be question marks as to who will win the starting positions. When it comes to quarterback, did Anthony Richardson win the job?

During the team’s annual spring game on Apr. 15, Richardson led the the Blue Team to a 34-0 shutout victory over the Orange Team.

Richardson completed 18-of-24 pass attempts for 207 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, the quarterback took six carries for 30 yards and a touchdown.

It is important to note that those were the full game stats for Richardson. In the first half, Richardson threw 13 completions for 167 yards and two touchdowns on just 15 targets. Those two touchdowns came on a 19-yarder to Ja’Markis Weston and a 6-yarder to Noah Keeter.

Last season, Richardson split playing time with Emory Jones at quarterback. Richardson threw for 529 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 59.4-percent of his passes, in addition to running for 401 yards and three touchdowns on 51 carries.

Now, Richardson is likely set to be the team’s starting quarterback for the upcoming season. It is just the spring game, but Richardson is creating some hype heading into the fall, as the Gators look to put the disastrous 2021 campaign behind them.
