Round 4: Akayleb Evans, DB, Missouri

Evans has all the physical traits required to develop into a starting NFL cornerback, but the mental side of this game must be coached up. The Packers’ defensive staff should feel confident in their ability to get the most out of such a gifted athlete.

The upside to Evans as a prospect is that he has above-average size, length, and athleticism for the position. That allows him to match up favorably with talented receivers on the outside. His tendency to get grabby on deep routes is a concern, but it’s something that should get coached out of him in time.

Round 4: Dane Belton, DB, Iowa

Iowa used Belton frequently as a slot corner and safety in the box. That helped cover up his lack of range in the final third which is a trend that should be followed by the Packers’ staff if they draft him in Round 4.

In short, Belton is one of those hybrid safeties who can get down in the box and make plays. He shouldn’t be relied on heavily in pass coverage, but he’s a useful tool for Green Bay to deploy on certain downs and distances.
