Look: C.J. Stroud wears Dwayne Haskins jersey at Ohio State spring game
By John Buhler
C.J. Stroud and the rest of the Ohio State football program did their part to honor the late Dwayne Haskins during the Buckeyes’ annual spring game on Saturday afternoon in Columbus.
It has been one week since C.J. Stroud and the rest of the Ohio State football family lost their beloved former quarterback and friend, Dwayne Haskins.
The former Ohio State standout tragically lost his life in South Florida last weekend. He was about to his celebrate his 25th birthday. Though his NFL career was nowhere near as successful as his collegiate one, Haskins has left an indelible impact on those who knew him best. Naturally, during Ohio State’s spring game on Saturday, the Buckeyes were pure class in honoring one of their own.
Here is Stroud rocking Haskins’ iconic No. 7 Buckeyes jersey during the Ohio State spring game.
Ohio State also painted his initials on the grass of Ohio Stadium for the glorified exhibition.

Even if things did not work out for him professionally in Washington, and to some degree in Pittsburgh, Haskins leaves behind an incredible legacy in Big Ten country. Not since Kerry Collins was carving it up with Penn State in the mid-1990s had a Big Ten quarterback gone in the first round of an NFL Draft. Haskins not only changed the game in the Big Ten, but for Ohio State, too.
He may not have won the Heisman Trophy during his final season in Columbus, but he was a record-setting passer for the Buckeyes. His success at Ohio State helped pave the way for Justin Fields to have success there upon transferring from Georgia. Fields became a first-round pick last year and Stroud is expected to be one after this upcoming college season for this Ohio State team.
More importantly, Haskins was beloved by his teammates. How the sports world reacted to his tragic demise speaks volumes as to what people thought about the young man how left us far too soon. Though he is no longer with us, we all know Haskins is in Columbus in spirit watching his beloved alma mater this weekend watching his team play. Haskins was Ohio State football.
Good job by Ohio State and Stroud honoring the late, great Buckeyes quarterback on Saturday.
