Leaky Black’s mom puts Duke fan on blast for trashing son’s decision to return to UNC
By John Buhler
UNC basketball star Leaky Black’s mom put a Duke basketball fan on blast for ripping her son’s decision to return to Chapel Hill for a fifth college season.
The mother of UNC basketball player Leaky Black crushed a Duke basketball fan on Twitter for questioning her son’s decision to come back to school for a fifth year.
Black played an integral part in the Tar Heels’ run to the national championship. While they blew a gargantuan halftime lead to the Kansas Jayhawks, keep in mind that this was a No. 8 seed led by a first-time head coach in Hubert Davis. North Carolina may lose Brady Manek, but Black and Armando Bacot are returning to school with one last dance on the horizon for them in college.
Simply, Black’s mother Carla tells this Duke fan to stay in his own lane and mind his own business.

The controversial quote tweet in question had the Duke fan asking, “well, where was he going to go?” Black may have an NBA future, but with the dawn of NIL in college sports and an opportunity to play one last season with his best friends, it was too good of an opportunity for star college basketball player like Black to pass up. North Carolina will be a serious contender to win it all.
Given that Black’s mother is a principal, education is incredibly important to this family. Black may have already graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, but pursuing a masters degree from one of the best public institutions on a basketball scholarship is pretty hard to pass up. Most importantly, Black seems like he is having an absolute blast by staying in school.
Even if North Carolina is unable to get back to the national championship next season, there are not going to be any regrets with Black staying in Chapel Hill. Being able to play basketball professionally would be incredible, but people tend to forget how awesome college sports are from an athlete’s standpoint. Where else are you going to play on a team with your best friends?
Black made the best decision for himself, so here is to him and the Tar Heels running it back.
