The golf season really began last weekend with The Masters. The PGA Tour saw the return of Tiger Woods at Augusta National after a lengthy time away from the links after his car accident that left him with a devastating leg injury. Tiger made the cut, which is a victory into itself, before falling off the pace on Moving Day and the final round.

The story other than Tiger was the dominant and steady play of Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world who won his fourth event in his last six tries and captured his first Green Jacket and major. It wasn’t really that close either with Cam Smith’s aggressiveness backfiring as he tried to close the deficit and make a charge on Sunday.

Rickie Fowler, however, did make a run with a brilliant Sunday, including holding out to perhaps give him some momentum into the spring as he chases another major championship to add to his trophy case.

But now The Masters are over, it’s not time to turn away from the action on the links.

This weekend’s RBC Heritage purse will see the winner take home $1,440,000 with the runner-up collecting a check for $872,000 and third place earning $552,000.

And for the golfer who makes the cut and finishes in 65th place, they’ll still earn a cool $17,200, which is not bad for four days work.
