“Cowboy” Joe West just announced that he will be starting a podcast.

Cowboy Joe West retired as an umpire after the 2021 season. But apparently, that did not mean MLB fans would no longer hear from him again. West is back but with a Podcast. He announced his new podcast on Twitter and it was in the ultimate “Joe West” way.

“I hope the audience will find my experiences and the people I crossed paths with over the last 44 years as interesting as I have,” West wrote. “I’m looking forward to sharing my stories and talking with old friends about the game we love.”

The show is titled 5460: The Joe West Podcast and will be co-hosted by KMOX’s Mike Claiborne. The first show is expected to drop on May 2.

West has had a long career that spanned over 40 years. He has umpired 5,460 games, which included working six world series and serving as the president of the MLB Umpire Association.

MLB fans and players love to hate Joe West

West has been criticized by fans and players for bad calls and wanting to be the center of attention. In 2006 Sports illustrated published a survey done by MLB players, and six percent of them voted him as the worst Umpire.

Despite fans and player’s feelings about west during his career as Umpire, it will be interesting to hear his untold stories on the game and his opinion on his many controversial calls. Fans love to hate him but his new podcast is sure to be a treat.
