By Rylie Smith
Freddie Freeman played against his former team in the Atlanta Braves for the first time since leaving them, and he gave a powerful first at-bat.
Freddie Freeman showed up in Los Angeles to play against his former team, the Atlanta Braves, for the first time since leaving. The Los Angeles Dodgers’ first baseman hit his inaugural home run of his Dodgers career during the game that ended in a 7-4 victory.
Freddie Freeman feels Braves as opponent didn’t make home run any sweeter
Freeman doesn’t seem to have any exact motivation behind his home run. However, he made it very clear that he was happy to play against the Braves and didn’t use it as influence to perform well.
"“Obviously, there’s just a lot of emotion going on right now, but a lot of good emotion. I know there’s storylines, and everyone wants to run and say this and that, but the only storyline today was I was just happy to see my friends again.” -Freddie Freeman, via ESPN"
The future Hall of Famer is trying to win another ring, but this time with the Dodgers after enjoying a stellar 12 years with the Braves. Many believed Freeman would stay in Atlanta this offseason despite being a free agent, but those notions were shattered when the Braves traded for former Oakland A’s star first baseman Matt Olson, sending four prospects to the west coast.
For Freeman, it’s a new start to a career that doesn’t appear to be slowing down soon.
