Longtime Villanova Wildcats head coach Jay Wright is reportedly retiring. Here’s all the information we know about the shocking college basketball news.

Fresh off a farewell tour for Coach K, the college basketball world has more goodbyes to say this spring with Jay Wright reportedly retiring from his post at Villanova.

Wright and the Wildcats have been incredibly successful over the past seven years. He won national titles in 2016 and 2018 and went to the Final Four this year.

Now Wright is calling it quits after two decades in charge.

Wright made $6.1 million per year at Villanova this past season, according to USA Today.

Wright isn’t the first legendary head coach to retire recently. It’s the end of an era for multiple programs thanks to the retirement of Roy Williams of UNC and Mike Krzyzewski of Duke. More could be coming too.

Syracuse’s Jim Boeheim is 77 years old and has been coaching the Orange since 1976. Michigan State’s Tom Izzo has been with the Spartans since 1995 and just turned 67.
