Phoenix Suns: Who will start in place of Devin Booker?
With Devin Booker ruled out for Game 3 against the New Orleans Pelicans, Cameron Johnson may be next up to start in his place.
Devin Booker will miss Game 3 against the New Orleans Pelicans, after suffering a right hamstring injury in Game 2. Booker sustained the injury after he flew down the court, in an attempt to stop Jaxson Hayes from getting a fast break dunk. He went up to contest the shot and came down limping.
According to ESPN, Booker will likely miss both Game 3 and Game 4. With Booker out the next player that could potentially take his place in the starting lineup is Cameron Johnson. He is a finalist for Sixth Man of the Year and rightfully so. Johnson is averaging 12.5 points a game off the bench, and in the 16 games he was a starter, he averaged 16.3 points a game. Johnson also made 50 3-pointers total while being a starter. He is more than capable of stepping up for the Suns, while Booker is out.
When will Devin Booker return?
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Booker could miss 2-3-weeks with his injury.
But Suns’ coach Monty Williams, shot down Windhurst’s reports when he spoke with reporters during practice. Williams stated he had been told privately about a timeline, but as for the Suns’ position, there is no timeline for Booker’s return, via PHNX Sports’ Gerald Bourguet.
