Bears wide receiver arrested after allegedly doing donuts with child in the car
New Bears wide receiver Byron Pringle is in trouble with the law for doing donuts in his Hellcat with a suspended license and a child in the car.
Byron Pringle’s tenure with the Chicago Bears is not off to a particularly good start.
The receiver, who signed a one-year contract as a free agent in March, was arrested in Florida on Saturday for reckless driving and driving with a suspended license, according to TMZ.
Apparently, Pringle was doing donuts on a public road around 6:00 p.m. in his 2016 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. His young son was allegedly in the back seat.
To make matters worse, police allege Pringle was “verbally confrontational” during the stop.
Bears WR Byron Pringle arrested for doing donuts
The last thing any team wants is for a player to end up in police custody during the offseason, especially for such an allegedly brainless incident. Driving with a suspended license isn’t a smart move. Doing donuts on a public road in a flashy orange car at six in the evening with a child in the backseat is pretty questionable decision-making.
What this means for Pringle’s future with the Bears is unclear.
Pringle played for the Chiefs after being picked up by Kansas City as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas State in 2018.
Though he missed his first season with an injury, he started to contribute in 2019 with 12 catches for 170 yards. His best season came in 2021 with 42 catches for 568 yards. He started five times and finished fourth in receiving yards on the team.
