Texas football fans react to Quinn Ewers debut in Longhorns spring game

Quinn Ewers’ powerful arm has Texas football fans so excited after Saturday’s spring game.

In his Texas football debut, quarterback transfer Quinn Ewers showed off his howitzer of a right arm for all of Longhorn Nation to see.

The native Texan briefly spent a semester in Big Ten country with the Ohio State Buckeyes. After riding pine and a couple of hand-offs here and there, the former five-star recruit returned to The Lone Star State hoping to do something no Longhorns quarterback has been able to accomplish since Colt McCoy turned pro: Bring Texas back. After his spring game showing, maybe Ewers can?

Texas football fans are ecstatic over Quinn Ewers’ impressive arm strength

It may have only been a spring game for a rebuilding Big 12 team, but no doubt about it, the talent is there for Ewers. Even if he is about to complete his first semester on campus, Ewers is expected to push Hudson Card for the starting job. Though it may end up being Card’s job out of the gate, Ewers will be nipping at his heels throughout fall camp and into the 2022 college football season.

With head coach Steve Sarkisian’s innovative play-calling, Texas has the chance to more than double its win total from the season prior. Yes, Texas only one four games a year ago, including an embarrassing loss to Kansas. However, winning upwards of nine or so games would go a long way towards killing the narrative that Texas football will never be back. They could be back here shortly.

Ultimately, the Sarkisian era in Austin will be defined by if Ewers lives up to the hype. His talent will get him on the field, but will he have what it takes to rip the starting job away from Card or potentially hold off a third-generation quarterback from America’s favorite football family from committing to Texas? It is still very early, but one thing is certain: Ewers has an absolute hose!

Expect for Texas fans to continue to salivate over the prospects of Ewers becoming their savior.
