Sam Jones won 10 championships throughout his career and his remarkable career was recognized by the Celtics when his number was officially retired. However, the Celtics have found a way to bring Jones’ number back to help recognize him and his contributions to the Celtics.

On December 30, 2021, Jones passed away at the age of 88 years old. Now, in the playoffs, the Celtics are wearing a logo bearing the number 24, Jones’ number on their jerseys.

Jones had a remarkable career with the Celtics. He spent the entirety of his NBA playing career, from 1957 to 1969 in Boston. During that timeframe, the Celtics won 10 championships, and Jones was named an NBA All-Star on five different occasions.
