Green Bay Packers can trade up as an excuse to not draft a first-round receiver

With two first-round picks, one would think the Green Bay Packers will do something out of character and draft a wide receiver to replace Davante Adams. They have their own pick at No. 28, as well as the No. 22 overall selection that comes to them by way of the Las Vegas Raiders as part of the Adams trade. Since the Packers brass does what it does, they may trade up to not draft one.

Cheeseheads everywhere will be tearing their hair follicles out in clumps if the Packers do not go wide receiver at any point in the top 32. However, the Green Bay front office can go back into full-blown spin doctor mode by trading up to take a player at a position of depth they don’t need in a package involving both picks. If they can trade up to take Jordan Love, they can really do anything.

For the love of all that is holy, please let the Packers draft a wide receiver before Friday morning.

Philadelphia Eagles have the draft capital to get into the top 10 fairly easily

The Philadelphia Eagles are in a very interesting spot heading into Thursday night. They have two first-round picks, No. 15 they got from the Dolphins a year ago and No. 18 in a pick swap they made with the New Orleans Saints that is more complicated than the Diophantine equation. We may love football, but we are not that smart, but according to math, the Eagles have two picks.

All signs point to them targeting another first-round wide receiver. When Jalen Reagor and J.J. Arçega-Whiteside do not work out, eventually one of these bad boys has to hit like it did with DeVonta Smith. While maybe only one receiver is worthy of going inside of the top 10, perhaps the Eagles have the necessary draft capital to land this spring’s WR1? This is at least an option now.

It probably serves the Eagles to stay where they are drafting and add two high-quality players.
