1. Get Ben Simmons on board

The Nets knew Simmons wasn’t going to play right away when they acquired him from the 76ers, but they did believe he would play before the end of their 2021-22 season. The fact that he didn’t play a single second before their ugly postseason exit didn’t make higher-ups in the front office very happy.

Nets fans who want their team to trade Simmons need to understand that his contract is too large to move. That means their only reasonable plan is to get him right mentally and physically in the coming months. The team desperately needs Simmons to give him something on the floor next season.

His shooting struggles will likely prevent him from ever being a star, but he still has a lot of skills that can really benefit his new team. They need a big wing who can defend multiple positions. Simmons’ ability to handle the ball and put pressure on the defense can also help jump-start Brooklyn’s bench unit.

The Nets can also benefit from Simmons simply getting on the floor next year to prevent him from being a constant media circus. The front office may be frustrated with him but they need to focus on their future together. They have to find some way to extract value from him moving forward.
