2022 NFL Mock Draft: Edge rushers dominate our final edition
By Brad Weiss
The Cincinnati Bengals were one of the best stories in the NFL last season, as quarterback Joe Burrow came back from blowing out his knee and led them to the Super Bowl. Sure, they lost to the Los Angeles Rams, but they established themselves as a real player in the AFC, and should be a playoff contender again in 2022.
The goal this offseason was to revamp the offensive line, and they did that in free agency, enabling them to use this pick on the defense. Cornerback is a real issue in Cincinnati, and here, they add an elite playmaker to the defensive backfield in Trent McDuffie.
Thanks to the trade they made with the Los Angeles Rams for Matthew Stafford, the Detroit Lions will wrap up the first round on Thursday, bringing in two elite players for their defense. After going with an edge rusher early, selecting Travon Walker from Georgia, they head to the Big Ten to select Michigan safety Daxton Hill.
With these two players, the Lions can start to build up something special on defense, and hopefully advance their status in the NFC North. It is going to be an interesting division this season, and maybe the Lions can do enough this offense to contender for the division title.
