Veteran catcher

The New York Yankees received backup catcher Ben Rortvedt from the Minnesota Twins. Rortvedt is on the injured list. The Yanks depend on Kyle Higashioka and Jose Trevino for catching duties.

Higashioka has played in 12 games and is hitting .121/.143/.152 with a wRC of -19. So far, he has -2 defensive runs saved. Trevino is doing a little bit better, hitting .278/.316/.33 with a wRC of +95.  He has three defensive runs saved. With Rortvedt on the injured list, he has yet to play in any competition.

The Yankees should begin depending primarily on Trevino and hoping for the best. Higashiola and Rortvedt are not catchers the team can depend on right now.

It would be good if the Yankees can find a veteran backstop with a hitting prowess available. The pitching staff, field, and team, in general, could benefit greatly from a veteran backstop.
